Role summary
This remote Data Scientist position is based in Canada and calls for strong experience in SQL, Python, AWS SageMaker, and both supervised and unsupervised machine learning. The role focuses on building predictive models, generating practical insights, and delivering scalable solutions that improve customer interaction decisions. It is well suited to someone who enjoys solving complex problems and converting data into business value.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, test, and deploy machine learning models with Python and AWS SageMaker to support next-best-action decision making.
- Work on commercial analytics involving customer segmentation, customer lifetime value, and campaign performance to identify valuable NBA opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with marketing, sales, and product teams so that models fit business goals and operational processes.
- Improve and support model deployment in AWS with attention to scale, monitoring, and performance optimization.
- Present technical findings in a clear way for non-technical stakeholders using reports, charts, and presentations.
- Keep up with developments in AI/ML, cloud platforms, and commercial analytics practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a closely related discipline.
- 3 to 4 years of professional data science experience, particularly in commercial or customer analytics across sectors such as pharma, retail, healthcare, e-commerce, or B2B.
- Certification such as AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty, or an equivalent credential.
- Experience working with big data technologies like Spark and Redshift, or familiarity with MLOps workflows.
- Exposure to NLP, reinforcement learning, or real-time recommendation systems.
- Strong command of SQL, including advanced querying and optimization, along with Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.
- Practical experience with AWS SageMaker for training and deployment, plus AWS services such as S3, Lambda, and EC2.
- Good understanding of traditional machine learning methods, XGBoost, TensorFlow or PyTorch, and A/B testing.
- Strong analytical thinking and the ability to make sense of incomplete or ambiguous data.
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to business stakeholders.

This is a remote role for candidates in Canada. The position is a contract role.
