Role Overview

OKX is hiring a Database Administrator to support the design, deployment, optimization, and complete lifecycle management of enterprise cloud database platforms. The role involves building and maintaining multi-cloud database environments across Alibaba Cloud and AWS, with a strong focus on availability, performance, and cost efficiency.

What You Will Do

• Run daily and end-to-end database operations such as backups, restores, monitoring, alerting, health checks, capacity planning, release support, lifecycle maintenance, and operational documentation to keep platforms stable, fast, and available for business needs.
• Improve database reliability and speed through SQL performance tuning, index improvements, schema reviews, workload analysis, slow-query investigation, and production incident root-cause analysis.
• Apply security and governance standards by managing access, reviewing privileges, maintaining audit logs, enforcing encryption, masking sensitive data, fixing vulnerabilities, and applying security baselines.
• Maintain and test backup, recovery, and disaster recovery setups, including RPO/RTO planning, restore validation, cross-region and cross-zone replication, failover exercises, and emergency recovery processes.
• Deliver solutions for database migration, scaling, sharding, read/write splitting, high availability, and data distribution for mission-critical applications.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a similar field, plus at least 4 years of experience in database administration and 2 years of experience working with cloud platforms such as Alibaba Cloud or AWS.
• Strong knowledge of relational, NoSQL, and distributed database designs, along with practical experience implementing high-availability architectures in production.
• Solid understanding of how mainstream database engines work internally, with proven capability in database design, capacity planning, and architecture oversight.
• Advanced database tuning and optimization skills, including experience supporting high-concurrency systems and large-scale data environments, with hands-on work in MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, HBase, and Kafka.
• Strong Linux or Unix administration skills, plus proficiency in Python and Shell scripting; knowledge of Perl or PHP will be an advantage.
