Role Summary
The organization is looking for a Database Administrator to keep its database environments stable, secure, and high-performing. The role involves hands-on administration across multiple database platforms, close coordination with engineering teams, and proactive work to support scalability and business continuity.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain database availability and keep systems running reliably through ongoing administration tasks.
- Install, configure, and perform upgrades for database platforms including MySQL, Postgres, and MongoDB.
- Carry out regular maintenance activities such as defragmentation, index rebuilding, and statistics collection.
- Design and manage replication setups so data can be copied across servers effectively.
- Support high-availability and failover configurations across multiple sites while preserving data consistency.
- Track database and system health, identify slow queries, and improve performance where needed.
- Plan, implement, and test backup and disaster recovery procedures to reduce the risk of data loss.
- Strengthen database security by managing access, roles, and permissions for users.
- Partner with development and engineering teams on data modeling, schema design, and ETL optimization.
- Create and maintain automation scripts using tools such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python to streamline recurring DBA work.
Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 5 years of proven database administration experience is expected. Strong working knowledge of RDBMS platforms such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB is essential, along with the ability to troubleshoot issues quickly, study usage trends, and resolve incidents. Clear written and spoken communication skills are also important for collaborating with technical teams and helping end users.
