Job Overview

This role is for a Department Manager based in Patna, Bihar. It is a full-time, mid-level position suited to professionals with 4 to 6 years of experience in retail team or department management. The selected candidate will be expected to improve department performance, deliver excellent customer service, and execute retail plans effectively in line with business objectives.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong product knowledge and the ability to manage category mix, identify customer needs, and support departmental growth.
  • Proven team leadership experience, with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop staff through clear delegation and engagement.
  • Capability to manage performance by setting goals, reviewing results, giving feedback, and driving improvements.
  • Ability to plan strategically and translate business objectives into efficient and profitable department-level actions.
  • Practical budgeting skills, including expense monitoring, resource optimization, and cost control.
  • Good stakeholder management skills for working smoothly with team members, vendors, customers, and internal teams.
  • Comfort with KPI tracking, performance analysis, and using data to guide decisions and improvements.
  • Hands-on ability to lead teams while maintaining company standards, service quality, and operational discipline.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead the department team and ensure sales goals are met while maintaining a high standard of customer service.
  • Review sales patterns, product movement, and stock levels to improve assortment planning and profitability.
  • Roll out store and brand initiatives at the department level in coordination with other functions for smooth execution.
  • Track the department budget, control spending, and apply economical practices to support financial targets.
  • Build team capability through training, mentoring, and regular performance evaluations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders to support business needs.
  • Ensure all department activities follow company policies, compliance requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Use KPI-based analysis and reporting to monitor performance and continuously improve results.
