Role Overview
The Digital Infrastructure Specialist will be responsible for keeping the school’s digital environment dependable, secure, and future-ready. The position covers cloud platforms, device administration, data integration, automation, and documentation, while also using AI-enabled tools to improve support processes and operational efficiency.
Required Qualification and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline is required.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially when dealing with students, staff, and parents in a diverse school community.
- Practical experience with cloud services such as Azure Active Directory and Microsoft 365, or equivalent platforms.
- Experience administering devices through platforms such as Intune, Meraki, or another mobile device management solution.
- Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting.
- Hands-on exposure to API setup, maintenance, and issue resolution.
- Familiarity with Azure Data Factory or similar integration tools.
- Experience working with external contractors and outsourced IT providers.
- Good diagnostic skills and a structured approach to solving technical problems.
- Ability to explain technical matters in simple terms to non-technical users.
- Ability to implement cybersecurity controls such as firewalls, encryption, and multi-factor authentication.
- Experience identifying, monitoring, and responding to security incidents, with awareness of privacy and compliance requirements.

- Microsoft Azure Active Directory, including identity administration, group policies, and conditional access.
- Microsoft Intune for configuration, compliance, and app deployment.

- PowerShell-based automation.
- API platforms and REST concepts.
- Azure Data Factory for pipelines, runtime management, and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities
This role combines day-to-day support with project work, infrastructure management, and coordination with vendors and contractors. The position also supports the school’s annual rollover and broader digital transformation goals.
User and Account Management
- Support users by resetting passwords and fixing sign-in problems.
- Create, update, and delete staff and student accounts as needed.
- Handle large-scale student account setup at the beginning of each academic year.
- Set up and assist with multi-factor authentication.
- Manage access permissions based on user role.
Device and Hardware Support
- Resolve problems related to networks, internet access, and device connectivity.
- Administer more than 200 iPads, including stock control and allocation.
- Set up devices, roll out applications, and enforce compliance settings.
- Support the management and enrolment of staff laptops.
- Assist with the student BYOD programme.
- Coordinate device replacement and recycling activities.
- Handle purchasing and payment processes for services such as Apple VPP and the Play Store.
Educational Software Systems
- Maintain ClassLink and ensure rosters sync correctly.
- Manage the addition, update, and removal of SSO and rostering for school-wide applications.
- Investigate and fix access or integration issues with learning applications such as Renaissance Learning, McGraw Hill, IXL, Kognity, and MAP.
- Support annual configuration updates for the new school year.
- Apply permissions by grade level and subject where required.
Systems and Infrastructure
- Administer Azure Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Intune, including troubleshooting, policy management, and configuration.
- Manage the ticketing system.
- Oversee Wi‑Fi access and network connectivity.
- Resolve cloud service access issues.
API Management and Data Integration
- Configure, support, and monitor APIs that connect internal and external systems.
- Manage API authentication, access permissions, and documentation.
- Oversee automated data movement and integration using Azure Data Factory and similar platforms.
- Investigate and fix issues involving API links and data pipelines.
- Work with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to launch and maintain integrations.
Cyber Security
- Implement and maintain security measures such as firewalls, encryption, and MFA to protect systems and data.
- Monitor for vulnerabilities or unusual activity and respond quickly to incidents.
- Carry out risk reviews, security checks, and compliance assessments.
- Stay current with emerging threats and recommend improvements proactively.
- Support Innovation Coaches in building staff and student awareness of cyber safety and secure digital habits.

Contractor Collaboration and Outsourcing
- Work actively with external suppliers and contractors.

- Coordinate contractor output and track performance to meet quality and deadline expectations.
Automation and Scripting
- Use PowerShell to automate repetitive actions and bulk processes such as account creation and password resets.
- Automate device administration and data workflows.
- Update scripts as systems change.
Projects and Planning
- Lead the yearly rollover process, including account setup, roster updates, and device readiness.
- Plan and implement ClassLink and application integration changes.
- Manage MFA rollout and support incident response when needed.
Documentation
- Create and maintain detailed process documentation with the help of AI tools such as Copilot, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Keep documentation current and easy for relevant stakeholders to access.
- Review and refresh documentation regularly to reflect system, workflow, and practice changes.
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving
- Resolve advanced technical issues and integration failures, using AI tools to improve speed and quality of support.
- Research and implement new education technology solutions.
- Handle escalated support tickets that require deeper technical expertise.
