Role overview

The Book to ePub Conversion Executive will turn legal and academic publications into polished ePub files ready for digital use. The position calls for careful formatting, validation, quality checks, and compatibility testing across e-reading devices and platforms, all while upholding EBC’s editorial and publishing standards.

Responsibilities

• Transform books, journals, manuals, and similar materials from source formats such as Word, PDF, InDesign, XML, and others into ePub files.
• Organize and style content according to ePub specifications and publishing rules.
• Build and manage navigation features such as the table of contents, bookmarks, hyperlinks, and cross-references.
• Make sure legal citations, footnotes, tables, images, and special characters display correctly.
• Check ePub files with standard validation tools and fix formatting or device-compatibility problems.
• Carry out detailed quality reviews to maintain accuracy and consistency in digital publications.
• Work closely with editorial, production, and technology teams to resolve conversion-related issues.
• Keep project logs, version tracking, and workflow records up to date.
• Complete assigned work on schedule while meeting required quality benchmarks.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in any field.
• Prior experience in eBook conversion, digital publishing, or content production is preferred.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, XML, and ePub standards.
• Comfort using Microsoft Office and digital publishing software.
• Exposure to legal or academic publishing will be an added advantage.
• Strong focus on detail and accuracy.
• Understanding of ePub 2 and ePub 3 standards and digital publishing workflows.
• Ability to spot and correct formatting or conversion issues.
• Good planning, organization, and time-management skills.
• Clear communication and strong teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Experience with Adobe InDesign, Calibre, Oxygen XML Editor, or similar tools is preferred.
• Awareness of accessibility expectations for eBooks is preferred.
• Familiarity with legal publishing content, citation handling, and document structures is preferred.
