Role Summary
This full-time, on-site position in Chandigarh is responsible for managing day-to-day trucking dispatch activities. The dispatcher will allocate loads, plan routes, and monitor vehicle movement through the day. The job requires continuous coordination with drivers, clear instructions, quick resolution of road issues, and adherence to company policies and safety expectations. You will also keep systems updated, maintain trip documentation, and provide regular status communication to customers and internal teams.
Key Duties
- Coordinate daily trucking operations by assigning loads and organizing delivery routes.
- Track vehicle locations and movement throughout the day to support on-time performance.
- Stay in regular contact with drivers, giving directions and assisting with issues that arise on the road.
- Ensure dispatch activity follows company procedures and safety guidelines.
- Record trip details accurately and update internal systems without delay.
- Share progress updates with customers and internal stakeholders as needed.
- Manage incoming calls and emails, responding to dispatch-related questions and requests.
- Handle urgent matters by prioritizing time-sensitive tasks and escalating when necessary.
- Work with operations and management teams to improve fleet utilization and punctuality.
Qualifications and Work Expectations
Applicants should be able to manage transportation schedules, coordinate routes, and oversee fleet activity in a fast-moving setting. Strong spoken and written communication is important for dealing professionally with drivers, customers, and internal colleagues. Comfort with computers, dispatching systems, GPS tracking tools, and standard office software is required for data entry and reporting. The role also calls for good organization, problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle several tasks at once.
A practical understanding of transportation and logistics is helpful, and prior exposure to trucking operations is an advantage. Candidates must be able to work on-site in Chandigarh and should be available for shift-based or extended working hours when business demands it. Previous experience in dispatch, logistics coordination, or a similar role is preferred, though not mandatory.
Education
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional study in logistics, transportation, or business is considered an added advantage.
