Where you'll work
Job description
About the role
As a Dispenser in one of the stores, you will be an important part of the pharmacy team, working alongside the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues to help deliver pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently.
Based in the store’s healthcare department, you will build strong relationships with patients by listening carefully to their needs. Your day-to-day work may include welcoming customers, dispensing prescriptions, supplying medicines safely, and offering healthcare guidance so people can make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.
This is an in-store role in the UK. Remote applicants will not be considered, and applications from people outside the UK will only move forward where relevant UK qualifications and proof of UK work eligibility can be confirmed.
Key responsibilities
- Handle prescription dispensing and make sure medicines are supplied safely, including ordering medicines, labelling, dispensing, endorsing, and collecting prescriptions.
- Work with the rest of the healthcare team in store to support the delivery and management of pharmacy services.
- Offer patients advice and care regarding medicines, and direct queries to the Pharmacist when needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed safely and lawfully.
- Stay current with in-store innovations and follow operational procedures.
- Help patients manage repeat prescriptions in a convenient way and support effective medicine use to improve adherence and reduce waste.
The store uses evolving technology, giving you the chance to work with new systems that help modernise dispensing, improve patient safety, and free up more time to spend with patients.
You will receive regular updates and training to strengthen your healthcare knowledge, along with opportunities to grow your career, including progression toward Pharmacy Technician training or roles within the store leadership team.
What you need
- You should have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification at NVQ2 level, or an equivalent qualification, or be currently studying toward it and have completed the first year of an MPharm degree.
- You must have a current and valid right to work in the UK. Sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Visa route is not available for this position.
Desirable experience
- Previous experience in a community pharmacy setting would be an advantage.
Benefits
- Discretionary Christmas gift payment.
- Staff discount.
- Enhanced pay for maternity, paternity, and adoption leave, plus a gift card for anyone expecting or adopting a child.
- Flexible benefits scheme.
- Access to free 24/7 counselling and support through an employee assistance programme.
