Job description
About the role
Boots UK is hiring a Dispenser to join the in-store pharmacy team in Ipswich. This role supports pharmacists and other healthcare professionals in delivering pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently. You will work in the healthcare area of the store, build positive relationships with patients, listen to their needs, and help them make informed choices about medicines, health, and wellbeing.
The position is based in a UK store only. Remote working is not available, and applications from outside the UK will only be considered where relevant UK qualifications and proof of UK right to work are provided.
The hourly pay for this role is £13.92, with rates of up to £16.64 in selected London locations.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense prescriptions while maintaining the safe supply of medicines, including ordering, labelling, endorsing, and handing out prescriptions.
- Support the wider healthcare team with the delivery and management of pharmacy services.
- Offer guidance to patients about medicines and direct queries to the pharmacist when needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed safely and legally.
- Stay current with new in-store developments and follow operational processes.
- Help patients manage repeat prescriptions and use their medicines effectively to support adherence and reduce waste.
By working with changing in-store technologies, you will help improve traditional dispensing processes, strengthen patient safety, and create more time for patient care. You will also receive ongoing updates and training to grow your healthcare knowledge, with career development opportunities such as progression into Pharmacy Technician training or store leadership roles.
What you need
- A completed Pharmacy Advisor qualification at NVQ2 level or equivalent, or progress toward one with at least the first year of an MPharm degree completed.
- A current and valid right to work in the UK.
- This position cannot be sponsored under the Skilled Worker Visa route.
Preferred experience
- Previous experience in a community pharmacy setting would be an advantage.
Benefits
- Discretionary Christmas gift payment.
- Generous employee discount.
- Enhanced pay for maternity, paternity, and adoption leave, plus a gift card for colleagues expecting or adopting a child.
- Flexible benefits package.
- Free 24/7 support and counselling through TELUS Health, the employee assistance programme.
Additional benefits are available through the company rewards programme and are designed to offer flexibility.
