Where you'll work

Job description

About the Role

This position places you in a Boots store pharmacy team, where you’ll help pharmacists and other healthcare colleagues deliver safe, efficient pharmacy and healthcare services. You’ll work directly with patients in the healthcare area of the store, building trust through attentive service, practical support, and clear guidance on medicines and wellbeing.

Day to day, the role involves welcoming customers, dispensing prescriptions, carrying out safe medicines sales, and offering healthcare advice so patients can make informed choices about their health. The job is based in-store in the UK only; remote working is not available. Applications from outside the UK will not move forward unless you can provide relevant UK qualifications and confirmed right to work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense prescriptions safely, including ordering medicines, labelling items, endorsing prescriptions, and handling prescription collection.
  • Support pharmacists and other healthcare professionals with the running and delivery of pharmacy services.
  • Offer patients advice on medicines and pass queries to the pharmacist when needed.
  • Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed legally and safely.
  • Stay current with in-store changes, new systems, and operational processes.
  • Help patients manage repeat prescriptions and medicines more effectively to improve adherence and reduce waste.

Technology and Development

You’ll work with changing in-store technologies and new systems that are helping modernise dispensing, improve patient safety, and give more time for patient care. Regular updates and training will be provided to build your healthcare knowledge, along with development opportunities such as training to become a Pharmacy Technician or progressing into store leadership.

Requirements

  • You must have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification NVQ2, or an equivalent qualification, or be studying towards it and have completed the first year of an MPharm degree.
  • You must have valid UK right to work.
  • This role is not eligible for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.
  • Experience in community pharmacy would be an advantage.

Pay and Benefits

The hourly pay for this role is £13.92, rising up to £16.64 in selected London locations.

  • Discretionary Christmas gift payment
  • Staff discount
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption leave pay, plus a gift card for anyone expecting or adopting a child
  • Flexible benefits scheme
  • Access to free, 24/7 counselling and support through TELUS Health employee assistance programme
