About the organisation
NHS Lanarkshire places patients at the centre of its work, with every team member contributing to the delivery of healthcare services. The organisation supports a population of 655,000 people across both rural and urban areas in North and South Lanarkshire. Its structure includes Acute Services across three main hospital sites, Corporate & Property & Support Services, and North and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnerships that deliver integrated health and social care to local communities and nearby areas.
The role
The Domestic Assistant will help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors across NHS Lanarkshire premises. The role is carried out using efficient and effective cleaning methods that meet NHSL and Hospital Acquired Infection (HAI) standards. The post also involves supporting and working alongside new colleagues in the workplace.
Working pattern: Monday to Thursday, 18:00 to 21:30; Friday, 17:00 to 19:47.
Key duties
- Carry out a variety of cleaning duties, including tasks that involve machinery, equipment, cleaning appliances, manual handling, and lifting.
- Make sure all cleaning work is completed to the required standard and inform a supervisor if any areas could not be cleaned because of access or similar issues.
- Use cleaning products and substances in line with health and safety duties and COSHH requirements.
- Work carefully at all times to protect the wellbeing of patients, staff, and visitors while performing duties.
What you need
- Understanding of cleaning standards and the procedures that support them.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others and contribute as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Capability to complete assigned work accurately and efficiently in a busy setting.
