Job description
Overview
Babcock International Group is hiring a Driver for its Chatham site in Kent. This full-time, permanent position offers the chance to support defence operations by moving personnel and equipment in military and civilian vehicles. The pay range is £26,881.50 to £29,842.64, depending on the licences held, plus benefits. The role reference is SF73738.
You will be based on site at Brompton Barracks, Chatham, and work 37 hours per week.
What the role involves
This is a practical driving role with a broad range of transport duties. You will help keep military operations running smoothly while working in an environment where safety, reliability, and professionalism matter.
- Move military staff and equipment between Royal School of Military Engineering (RSME) Chatham locations, mainly using coach transport.
- Occasionally transport personnel to destinations elsewhere in the UK.
- Operate military and commercial vehicles you are qualified and trained to drive.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and basic upkeep on a variety of military vehicles, with training provided.
- Maintain accurate training records and keep compliance information up to date.
Experience and qualifications
The employer is looking for someone who is customer-oriented and able to build strong, positive working relationships. A Coach / D licence is required.
Security and eligibility
The successful applicant must be able to obtain and keep Standard (BPSS) security clearance.
