Role Summary
The EHS Officer will help drive the rollout of environment, health, and safety policies and procedures across the organization. This position is responsible for supporting regulatory compliance, strengthening workplace safety, and contributing to environmental sustainability efforts.
Reporting Line and Location
This role reports to the EHS Manager and is based in Abuja, Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
- Put EHS policies, procedures, and programs into practice across the organization.
- Carry out risk assessments, safety walkthroughs, and formal audits.
- Oversee day-to-day workplace practices to ensure they meet health and safety requirements.
- Keep clear and accurate records of incidents, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Help plan and deliver EHS training and awareness sessions.
- Record, investigate, and report accidents, near misses, and identified hazards.
- Support sustainability work such as waste reduction and energy-saving efforts.
- Work with employees to promote safer working habits and ongoing improvement.
Requirements
- A BSc or HND in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience in an EHS role or a similar safety-related position.
- Sound understanding of HSE/EHS principles and workplace safety standards.
- Professional certifications such as HSE Level 1 to 3 or NEBOSH IGC will be considered an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and a clear safety-first mindset.
