Job description
Job Overview
This opportunity is for an Electrical Inspector working on offshore facilities. The position focuses on checking that electrical installations and systems remain safe, compliant, and fit for service. The work includes inspection, testing, verification, and documentation aligned with project requirements, international standards, and applicable regulatory rules.
Responsibilities
- Carry out inspections, tests, and verification checks on offshore electrical systems, switchboards/panels, cabling, grounding arrangements, and related equipment.
- Confirm that work meets the relevant electrical codes and standards, including IEC, IEEE, NEC, and the project’s technical requirements.
- Examine electrical drawings, schematics, and other technical records to understand and validate installations.
- Spot deviations or defects, issue inspection findings, and track the completion of corrective measures.
- Observe installation, commissioning, and maintenance work to ensure safety and quality expectations are being followed.
- Check Ex-proof equipment and confirm compliance for hazardous areas under ATEX and IECEx requirements.
- Work with QA/QC personnel, contractors, and site engineers to close technical and inspection-related issues.
- Keep inspection logs, test documentation, and regular progress updates on a daily and weekly basis.
- Follow HSE procedures strictly during all field and site activities.
Requirements
- A Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, is required.
- Candidates should have 3 to 5 years of offshore experience working as an Electrical Inspector.
- Good working knowledge of IEC, IEEE, NEC, ATEX, IECEx, and other applicable electrical standards is essential.
- Professional credentials such as CompEx, EX Inspector, NDT Level II where relevant, or an equivalent qualification are preferred/required as applicable.
- Valid offshore survival certification such as BOSIET or FOET, along with a current medical certificate, is required.
- Hands-on experience in hazardous area inspection and electrical commissioning is expected.
