Where you'll work
Job description
Overview
This role suits an electrician who wants steadier work, fewer daily frustrations, and a more predictable workload. The position is with a large social housing provider supporting the compliance and upkeep of its housing stock as the team grows.
The work is practical and hands-on, covering repairs, fault finding, responsive call-outs, kitchens, bathrooms, communal spaces, and minor electrical works. Because the work takes place in residents’ homes, attention to quality and customer care is just as important as technical ability.
This is intended to be long-term, stable employment rather than stop-start contracting. The environment is structured, with clear priorities, manageable workloads, support from experienced colleagues on more complex jobs, and the right systems, PPE, and compliance processes in place.
What the role involves
- Carrying out electrical repairs and responsive maintenance across housing stock.
- Diagnosing faults and completing first-time-fix focused work wherever possible.
- Undertaking electrical tasks in kitchens, bathrooms, and shared areas.
- Performing minor works as required.
- Working safely and professionally in residents’ homes.
- Participating in an out-of-hours call-out rota, with paid call-out duty on a 1 in 6 week cycle.
What you need
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, or an equivalent qualification such as City & Guilds 2365 or 2357 — essential.
- AM2 — essential.
- Inspection and testing experience; 2391, 2394, or 2395 is desirable.
- Strong understanding of BS7671.
- Experience working in domestic housing or social housing settings.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Competent IT skills.
- Good communication and customer-facing skills.
- A careful, high-standard approach with no cutting corners.
Additional details
The salary offered is £43,000 to £49,800, with holiday pay benefits included. You will also receive a company vehicle. The employer supports apprentices and aims to operate in a well-organised, professional way.
