Job description

Role overview

This position is responsible for running the fire station and coordinating the associated emergency-response activities. The role ensures that fire protection systems, equipment, and vehicles remain available, functional, and ready for use so that fire-related incidents can be contained in line with the organization’s fire safety policies, procedures, and standard operating practices.

Key responsibilities

  • Follow established fire safety policies, procedures, operating standards, and maintenance programs to support reliable fire service operations.
  • Investigate fire-related incidents, carry out root-cause analysis, and define corrective actions to reduce the chance of repeat events.
  • Support plant-level fire safety audits and help close identified gaps with practical corrective measures.
  • Review and update the risk assessment sheet as needed so that fire prevention controls stay effective.
  • Plan and conduct daily fire drills to ensure the team can respond quickly and correctly during emergencies.
  • Identify hidden hazards and possible escalations, and apply suitable firefighting approaches for process, tank farm, or marine emergency situations as relevant to the work area.
  • Respond immediately to emergency calls, apply incident command and control practices, and coordinate the movement of resources for emergency containment.
  • Use the right firefighting equipment and methods, and work closely with emergency responders and the incident commander to manage incidents effectively.
  • Develop training material and organize fire-awareness sessions for fire executives and site employees to strengthen emergency readiness.
  • Keep all firefighting equipment, vehicles, and communication systems in working condition and available for immediate deployment at fire stations.
  • Flag non-compliance issues and implement approved measures to reduce gaps in fire safety adherence.
  • Maintain logbooks, occurrence records, and other shift-related documents to ensure compliance with fire safety requirements.

Education requirement

Applicants should have one of the following qualifications: a Bachelor of Engineering in Fire, a Diploma Engineer qualification, a Bachelor of Science along with the Station Officer Course, Grad I certification from IFE UK/India, or the Sub Officer Course.

Additional information

The responsibilities listed are key duties for the role, but the employee may also be assigned other work by senior management from time to time. The role also calls for strong fire safety management capability, practical use of firefighting systems and resources, familiarity with SAP transactions, and sound teamwork, delegation, communication, time management, planning, and decision-making skills.

Skills & competencies

Core competencies for the position include observing mock drills, following emergency response procedures, maintaining training compliance, ensuring CAS compliance, and keeping firefighting systems available and operational.
