Role overview
GHD is looking for an Environmental Planner to join its New Zealand planning team in Christchurch, with possible consideration for Auckland, Hamilton, New Plymouth, or Wellington. This intermediate-level role focuses on environmental planning work that supports sustainable outcomes for communities and projects across New Zealand.
What you will do
- Help prepare environmental assessments and planning consent applications for projects across New Zealand.
- Carry out consultation and relationship management with consent authorities, iwi, stakeholders, landowners, the public, and other impacted groups.
- Assist and advise junior planners as they develop in their roles.
- Own individual project tasks and work closely with project stakeholders to support a strong client experience during delivery.
- Work as part of a nationwide planning group and learn from senior planners and technical directors.
- Build your professional capability through mentoring, training, involvement in professional bodies, and participation in GHD’s global technical communities.
- Contribute to a collaborative, diverse, and supportive workplace that also supports flexibility and work-life balance.
About you
- You hold a bachelor’s degree and bring at least 3 years of experience in environmental planning.
- Intermediate membership with the NZPI is preferred.
- You have experience with district and regional consenting, especially for infrastructure work.
- You communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and speaking.
- You take a flexible approach to problem-solving and handling challenges.
- You are proactive, self-driven, and energetic.
