About the Role

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a dedicated Environmental Services Lead to join their team at the Great Bend Campus. This full-time position operates during the evening shift, from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. As a Lead Housekeeper, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Supervisor and Manager by overseeing daily operations, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, and serving as a primary point of contact for staff and management in the Supervisor's absence. You will also be instrumental in training new employees, acting as a role model for technical skills, professional conduct, and adherence to departmental procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Support Supervisors and Managers in the daily management of the Environmental Services Department.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate responses to all departmental communications, including pages and radio calls.
  • Oversee the completion of daily tasks by Housekeeping staff and provide backup support as needed.
  • Act as a key resource for staff and management when a Supervisor is unavailable.
  • Contribute to departmental decision-making by bringing forward ideas and concerns to the Supervisor.
  • Train and mentor existing and new staff to meet established departmental and organizational standards.
  • Keep Housekeeping staff informed about departmental updates, health system news, and other relevant information.
  • Assist Supervisors and Managers with departmental planning, reporting, special projects, and initiatives.
  • Model professional image standards for the housekeeping team, demonstrating positive attitude, strong performance, and competence.
  • Fulfill the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies required for the assigned department or unit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, recognizing that responsibilities may vary by department or unit.
