Job description

Company overview

The Georgetown Raiders are a competitive hockey club located in Georgetown, Ontario and competing in the OJHL. Their staff and volunteers work together to keep daily operations running smoothly throughout the season, with every position contributing directly to the team’s performance and overall success.

Role summary

As the Equipment Manager, you will take ownership of the team’s equipment operations in a contract, on-site capacity. This includes organizing, maintaining, and preparing gear for practices and games so that players and staff have what they need at all times.

Key duties

You will set up and prepare uniforms and equipment such as jerseys, protective gear, sticks, and goalie items for practices and game days. The role also involves checking equipment condition, cleaning items, and carrying out minor fixes, including skate sharpening, replacing laces and straps, and small stitching repairs. You will keep inventory records accurate, monitor equipment usage, manage storage spaces, and arrange ordering or replacement of supplies within an assigned budget. In addition, you will partner with coaches, players, and other staff to respond quickly to equipment requests, support travel arrangements and game-day logistics, and keep locker room and bench areas neat and aligned with league expectations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate has experience handling sports or hockey equipment in a team, club, or similar setting, including fitting, storing, and maintaining gear. You should be comfortable with basic repair work such as sharpening skates, simple sewing or patching, and making small equipment adjustments. Strong organization, inventory control, and accuracy are important, along with clear communication and the ability to work respectfully with coaches, players, officials, and arena personnel. This job requires an on-site presence and availability for days, evenings, and weekends, as well as the physical ability to lift, carry, and move equipment. Dependability, good time management, and problem-solving ability are important in a fast-moving game-day environment. Familiarity with hockey equipment standards, player safety requirements, and team or league policies is helpful. Prior experience in a comparable hockey or sports organization role is an advantage, but it is not mandatory; a willingness to learn is essential.

Work schedule and setting

This is an on-site contract position in Georgetown, Ontario. The role may require working days, evenings, and weekends depending on team needs and game schedules.
