Job description
Role overview
This position is responsible for carrying out on-site installation work for elevators and escalators, following the approved installation methods and workplace safety standards. The job must be performed in line with company policies and operating procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Check deliveries against the purchase order when materials arrive at the site, confirming that the shipment is complete and noting any visible damage.
- Prepare records for any short, incorrect, or damaged materials so replacement items can be arranged.
- Coordinate with the building contractor or site representative on civil work requirements and installation timing alongside other ongoing activities.
- Verify the lift shaft’s vertical alignment before installation begins.
- Review shafts, door openings, and pit/escalator-related areas against the approved shop drawings.
- Fit machine-room equipment according to the shop drawings.
- Install hoistway, pit, landing, rail, and door components as specified in the approved drawings.
- Submit the installation checklist to the Team Lead - Installations once all installation stages are completed.
- Remove debris from the pit after installation work is finished.
- Control access to the work area according to the company’s safety requirements.
- Prevent unauthorized entry into the machine room.
- Escalate site issues, product concerns, and operational mismatches to the Team Lead - Installations.
- Set annual performance objectives with the reporting manager and work toward meeting them during the year.
- Identify personal training and development needs with the reporting manager so required learning can be planned and completed.
- Continuously build proficiency in the competencies and skills needed for the position.
- Stay updated on new methods, industry developments, and current issues through ongoing learning and professional development.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 4 years of relevant experience in installation operations within the vertical transportation industry.
- A minimum of 2 years in roles with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Ability to share or exchange basic information in routine interactions with people familiar with the subject.
- This is primarily a field-based role performed outside the office.
