Role Overview
Klinic Community Health is looking for a strategic, values-led Executive Director to guide a highly regarded community health organization in Manitoba. With more than five decades of service, Klinic provides accessible primary care, mental health supports, crisis services, and community programs that strengthen individuals and communities. Reporting to the Board of Directors, this leader will shape strategy, build partnerships, advance reconciliation and equity efforts, and support the organization’s long-term sustainability and impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the organization’s strategic planning work in line with Board direction and ensure the plan prepares the organization for future opportunities and challenges.
- Create and maintain an effective execution framework for strategic priorities, including target setting, assigning ownership, tracking progress, and reviewing outcomes.
- Keep the organization’s strategic goals visible and aligned across staff and the Board.
- Oversee the ongoing delivery of the organization’s vision, mission, and strategic plan.
- Support sound governance and policy administration in partnership with the Board and its committees.
- Ensure Board meetings are well prepared, coordinated, and communicated.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, directors, funders, community partners, government representatives, and other stakeholders.
- Work with internal and external partners to create opportunities that advance the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
- Engage with prospective donors regarding endowments and major gifts.
- Represent the organization publicly with the community, media, and other key audiences.
- Prioritize and model strong stakeholder relations as an organizational value.
- Support attraction, development, and retention of talent.
- Build and sustain a healthy, productive, engaged, and psychologically safe workplace.
- Align and support the leadership team in delivering priorities and goals.
- Oversee financial stewardship, including resource management, planning, and budgeting.
- Provide financial information, guidance, and support to staff, the Board, funders, and other stakeholders.
- Support effective administrative and clinical operations through policies and practices aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
- Respond to changing operational needs and conditions as they arise.
- Promote process improvement and introduce innovative initiatives that help the organization achieve its goals.
Working Conditions
This is an in-person, full-time leadership role based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The position is set at 1.0 FTE, with a standard schedule of 8 hours per day and an annual base of 2,080 hours. The anticipated shift is daytime hours. Work is expected Monday through Friday, but flexibility is required for some evening and weekend work, along with limited travel.
Compensation and Benefits
Final pay will depend on experience, leadership background, and how well the candidate aligns with the organization’s needs. A comprehensive benefits package is included. Compensation amount was not specified.
Qualifications and Experience
- Postgraduate education is preferred, or a graduate degree in a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a not-for-profit organization.
- At least 5 years of organizational leadership experience in a health-related environment.
- Background managing an agency’s operations, including quality improvement, continuous improvement, planning, administration, staffing, supervision, budgeting, and reporting.
- Experience working with a Board of Directors to shape and deliver strategic vision and organizational planning.
- Proven ability to lead organizational change successfully.
- Ability to build effective working relationships and partnerships with external individuals and organizations.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Ability to provide a clear Criminal Record Check and Abuse Registry Check.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
