Job description
About X.Wave
X.Wave is a creative marketing agency focused on bringing brand experiences to life in physical spaces. The company creates experiential events, brand activations, and pop-ups for well-known consumer names such as New Balance, Foot Locker, Levi's, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Kith. It is a compact, purposeful team that works quickly while paying close attention to quality.
Role overview
The Experiential Spatial Designer will turn brand ideas into fully developed physical environments. This role involves shaping, designing, and documenting activation spaces for live events and pop-up experiences, starting from early sketches and continuing through build-ready files that fabricators can use directly. The designer will partner with project management and speak with vendors to ensure the finished build reflects the original creative intent.
Key responsibilities
- Create experiential concepts, CAD drawings, and production-ready visuals for brand activations, pop-ups, and live event environments.
- Build visual merchandising strategies for product displays that support storytelling, traffic flow, visibility, conversion, and brand consistency across experiential spaces.
- Work closely with project managers from concept development through final execution to preserve the design vision throughout production.
- Coordinate directly with fabricators and external vendors to explain design intent, review shop drawings, and answer build-related questions.
- Prepare design packages that are accurate, practical to construct, and clearly organized for vendor delivery.
- Revise concepts quickly in response to budget limits, schedule changes, or client feedback while keeping the core idea intact.
- Contribute to a fast-moving, collaborative creative environment where design input is valued and visible.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in spatial, experiential, or environmental design.
- Background in an agency, event, or production-house setting is strongly preferred.
- Strong command of CAD and 3D rendering software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Vectorworks, or similar tools.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Figma for presenting and communicating design work.
- Hands-on experience collaborating with fabricators, builders, or production vendors.
- Ability to juggle several projects at once and perform well under live-event deadlines.
- Clear, concise communication skills with the ability to explain design choices to both fabricators and brand clients.
- A portfolio showing spatial problem-solving and not only visual aesthetics.
