Position overview
Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine is looking to appoint a full-time or part-time faculty member in the Department of Anatomy at its Las Cruces, New Mexico campus. Appointment level will depend on the candidate’s background, achievements, and overall experience. The college wants a dynamic educator with adaptable teaching skills, a strong commitment to medical education, and a genuine interest in research and scholarly work.
The Department of Anatomy is one of the College’s three core basic science departments and supports anatomical teaching within the osteopathic medical curriculum. This role is centered on instruction for first- and second-year systems and laboratory courses. The department includes faculty with research interests across developmental anatomy, molecular biology, classical anatomy, craniofacial development, applied neuroscience, biological anthropology, and medical education.
The selected faculty member will also contribute to the College’s organizational health efforts by helping strengthen leadership, improve communication, clarify purpose, and support a respectful, mission-driven culture built on integrity, transparency, and collaboration.
Key duties
- Teach osteopathic medical students in the first and second years of the program.
- Create exam questions aligned with COMLEX and USMLE board-style formats.
- Support student mentoring and academic advising.
- Help design, implement, and evaluate curriculum.
- Contribute service to the institution, the surrounding community, and the profession.
- Participate in scholarly and research-related activities.
- Carry out other responsibilities as assigned.
Compensation and appointment details
The role is fully funded and reports to the Chair of the Department of Anatomy. The start date can be arranged based on mutual availability. The college offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, with pay and benefits aligned to faculty rank, qualifications, and experience.
