Financial Analyst

Role overview

In KPMG Canada’s Finance team, this position supports the Business Enablement Services function by handling accounting transactions, examining financial data, and producing monthly billing activities. The role reports to the Manager, Finance and contributes to service delivery for internal client groups.

Key responsibilities

• Build detailed analyses and reports for assigned teams, including follow-up on unusual variances.
• Prepare, review, record, and reconcile monthly journal entries.
• Distribute administrative costs across the appropriate cost centres each month.
• Generate monthly billing outputs.
• Retrieve invoice support documents to validate or reconcile monthly transactions.
• Coordinate with Accounts Payable, Procurement, and other client groups to resolve urgent queries.
• Support month-end closing activities.
• Depending on the client group, assist with weekly cash forecasts, payroll funding, EFTs, and Amex wires.
• Take on additional analysis or project work as needed.

Working expectations

The role may occasionally require working beyond standard daily or weekly hours when business demands make it necessary. KPMG also acknowledges the need for flexibility so employees can address personal commitments.

What you need to bring

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a comparable qualification.
• At least 2 years of experience in financial analysis or accounting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, core concepts, and financial statements.
• A customer-oriented approach with the ability to collaborate well and work on your own.
• Sound analytical ability, including comfort with detailed review and broader business context.
• Clear written and spoken communication skills for interaction across all levels of the firm.
• Well-developed organizational, analytical, and presentation capabilities.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to perform accurately and quickly under deadlines and shifting priorities.

Compensation and rewards

The expected annual base pay for this role in Ontario is between 47,000 and 71,500 CAD. The position may also qualify for bonus awards. Final pay is determined by location, skills, competencies, and overall qualifications. A comprehensive Total Rewards package is also offered.
