Role Overview

The City of Pearland, Texas is hiring a full-time Quartermaster to support and strengthen the Fire Department’s everyday operations. This position plays a key role in managing logistics, inventory, equipment readiness, and facility support for the department. The pay range is $22.92 to $24.81 per hour, depending on qualifications.

What This Job Supports

The selected candidate will fill one of two Quartermaster roles and manage the logistical needs of the Pearland Fire Department. The work involves fleet coordination, facilities support, gear and uniform management, medical supply handling, and oversight of firefighting equipment. Prior fire service experience and familiarity with fire and EMS equipment are considered helpful.

Minimum Qualifications

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, along with at least two years of experience in logistics, data entry, or a closely related field. The ideal candidate should either already know, or be able to learn within one year, the relevant NFPA standards, including 10, 17, 232, 1801, 1851, 1852, 1858, 1911, 1912, 1931, 1932, 1936, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1971, 1981, 1982, 1983, and 1989. Experience in a paramilitary-style organization is a plus.

Licenses and Certifications

A valid Texas Class B driver’s license is required, or the ability to secure one within 90 days. NIMS 300 and NIMS 400 are preferred.

Core Duties

This position is responsible for keeping vehicles, equipment, uniforms, and supplies organized, tracked, and ready for use. The Quartermaster also works with vendors, internal shops, and facilities teams to ensure repairs, inspections, service schedules, and compliance-related tasks are completed accurately and on time.

Additional Notes

The role may involve transporting equipment, conducting safety checks, handling shipments, supporting purchasing and specification development, and assisting with disposal or auction of outdated items. The position also contributes data for capital improvement planning and may be assigned related duties as needed.

Compensation

Pay is hourly and ranges from $22.92 to $24.81, based on qualifications.
