Firmware Engineer

Job Summary

This role focuses on building and troubleshooting firmware for hardware products, carrying out structured testing, investigating failures, and keeping engineering records accurate. You will work closely with a team while contributing to project tracking and technical documentation.

What You’ll Do

• Study product specifications and hardware needs to shape firmware and BIOS development.
• Build, code, refine, and debug firmware so the product meets functional and performance goals.
• Create and run firmware/software test plans, then record results clearly and accurately.
• Investigate failures and resolve firmware or hardware issues by finding root causes and applying fixes.
• Assist with hardware debugging during development, test, and production stages.
• Handle source code control, keep technical documents updated, and manage versioning properly.
• Prepare engineering deliverables such as test reports, specifications, Engineering Change Requests (ECR), and release materials including Master ROM.
• Track project progress, share updates with stakeholders, and take on ad-hoc engineering work when required.
• Contribute to additional assignments and special projects that support team goals.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Electronic/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar field is preferred.
• Hands-on exposure to embedded systems development using C and C++ is needed.
• You should understand programming, debugging, and the firmware development cycle.
• Practical experience in firmware/software testing, failure analysis, and issue resolution is expected.
• You must be able to work both on your own and with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Strong self-drive, good time management, and the ability to meet deadlines while handling ad-hoc work are important.
