Job description

Role overview

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) works to strengthen Singapore as an aviation hub and to support the growth of the aviation sector by creating connections and opportunities. Within CAAS, the Safety Regulation Group (SRG) is responsible for overseeing civil aviation safety in Singapore and for Singapore aircraft operating outside the country. The group’s work helps safeguard passengers, people, and property on the ground while supporting the long-term development of the air hub and aviation industry.

What you will do

In this position, you will take charge of safety oversight for Singapore air operators, flight crew, and general aviation activities. You will contribute to the creation and improvement of safety standards and regulations, and you will also research major developments affecting flight operations so that oversight and regulatory work remain aligned with the highest safety expectations.

Your work will include approving and monitoring Singapore and foreign air operators, aviation training organisations, flight simulation training devices, and flight crew to verify ongoing compliance with aviation safety requirements. You will also review the safety management systems of air operators, track industry safety performance, and help build and sustain a strong safety culture across the sector. In addition, you may be involved in investigating aviation incidents and accidents. The role also offers opportunities to work with international partners and safety professionals beyond Singapore.

Requirements

Applicants should hold a valid Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL), ideally with an endorsed Flight Instructor Rating, and/or have served in a flight operations management role with a recognised air operator. A minimum of 5,000 hours of air transport pilot experience on civil transport aircraft or equivalent military aircraft is required.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in civil aviation management and operations, regulatory work, or pilot training. RSAF officers with relevant operational military flying experience and key appointments such as commander of an operational unit are also encouraged to apply.

Successful candidates must bring a strong commitment to aviation safety, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills and good interpersonal ability. Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents, and foreign nationals may apply.

Terms and conditions

The initial appointment will be for a 3-year contract. Candidates may later be considered for a permanent position upon contract renewal.
