Job summary

This role focuses on keeping the store clean, sanitary, and safe for customers and associates. The position helps strengthen customer trust by maintaining dependable, compliant store conditions and by contributing to an inclusive workplace that respects different backgrounds and experiences.

Core duties

  • Maintain a tidy, hazard-free condition across the sales floor, liquor area, offices, break rooms, back rooms, training rooms, and approximately 70% of the restrooms.
  • Use floor care machinery, department tools, and cleaning chemicals appropriately.
  • Sweep or vacuum mats and rugs and return them to their proper place.
  • Remove carpet spots, empty trash, and carry out deep restroom cleaning.
  • Help create a welcoming shopping experience that supports customer confidence and loyalty.
  • Deliver daily store conditions that align with the company’s cleanliness and sanitation standards.
  • Provide basic customer help, including assisting shoppers in locating items or suggesting products.
  • Follow standards for safety, food handling, sanitation, and productivity.
  • Comply with applicable regulatory requirements related to food safety, USDA rules, COOL, and DOA expectations.
  • Carry out product recalls and withdrawals promptly while keeping affected products secured and away from customers.
  • Support safety programs by following procedures, identifying unsafe situations, and reporting them to store management.
  • Report accidents, safety concerns, and any illegal activity such as robbery, theft, or fraud.
  • Follow wage and hour rules and help build a store culture centered on safety.
  • Make sure associates work safely and receive the necessary safety training.
  • Ensure hazard assessments are posted for reference and that PPE is available and used when required.
  • Help keep equipment in proper working order and report/assist with remediation of safety hazards, including lockout/tagout steps when needed.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Preferred education is a high school diploma or GED. The role requires English, with Spanish listed as preferred. Relevant experience is 0 to 3 years. Supervisory experience is not specified as a requirement.
