Floor Care Associate

Job Summary

This role is focused on keeping the store clean, sanitary, and safe by maintaining all floor areas and restrooms to a high standard. The position also supports customer confidence and loyalty by helping maintain consistent, compliant store conditions and by contributing to a welcoming, inclusive workplace.

Key Duties

• Maintain cleanliness and safety across the sales floor, liquor area, offices, break rooms, back rooms, training rooms, and about 70% of restrooms.
• Use floor care equipment, department tools, and cleaning chemicals to complete routine cleaning tasks.
• Sweep or vacuum mats and rugs and place them back in their original spots after cleaning.
• Remove carpet spots, empty trash, and carry out deep cleaning of restrooms.
• Create a store atmosphere where customers feel welcomed and valued.
• Support daily store conditions that meet expectations for sanitation and cleanliness.
• Assist customers when they need help locating items or suggestions.
• Follow company standards for safety, sanitation, and productivity.
• Comply with food safety rules, USDA requirements, Country of Origin Labeling (COOL), and Department of Agriculture (DOA) requirements.
• Carry out product recalls and withdrawals promptly and ensure affected items are secured and removed from customer access.
• Help maintain a strong safety culture by following procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and reporting issues to store management.
• Report customer or employee accidents, as well as safety risks and illegal activity such as robbery, theft, or fraud.
• Follow wage and hour policies and regulations.
• Make sure all associates work safely and receive required safety training.
• Ensure hazard assessments are posted and personal protective equipment is available and used where needed.
• Verify that equipment is maintained properly and report or help address safety hazards, including lockout/tagout situations when required.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The preferred education level is a High School diploma or GED. Relevant experience of 0 to 3 years is acceptable. English is required, while Spanish is preferred. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, authorized to work in the United States or able to obtain authorization, and able to pass pre-employment drug testing and a background check.

Work Environment

This is a retail role with heavy physical demands. The job involves standing and walking on different flooring surfaces, using both hands and feet for repetitive movements, and frequently reaching, carrying, pushing, or lifting loads up to required limits. Occasional sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing up to 30 feet may also be required.

Working conditions may include indoor and outdoor environments, cold or freezing areas, heated spaces, and wet or humid conditions. Safety risks may involve twisting of the back or neck, slippery or cluttered floors, hazardous equipment, sharp objects, loud noise, skin irritants, dust, fumes, sprays, and cleaning chemicals.

Common equipment includes cleaning supplies, general office tools, registers, pricing guns, scales, scanners, and material-handling equipment such as racks, carts, pallet jacks, and shopping carts. Preferred equipment includes a baler/compactor and box cutter. Personal protective equipment may include goggles, gloves, and a back brace. Pulling requirement: 250 lbs. Lifting requirement: 50 lbs. Travel is occasional and overnight travel is not required. Shifts are varied.
