Job description

Role overview

This position is for floor staff at Manchester Airport in Manchester. The role sits within a busy pub environment and involves supporting the team with food and drink service while keeping standards high across cleanliness, safety, and customer care.

What the job involves

You will work alongside the wider team to serve food and drinks accurately and efficiently. The pub operates from early morning through late at night, so the schedule can include mornings, evenings, weekends, and late finishes.

Main duties

  • Take orders, prepare and serve drinks to the required standard, either at the bar or through the customer app.
  • Deliver food to guests, complete check-backs, and clear plates within the expected time.
  • Greet customers warmly, thank them, and help create a friendly rapport.
  • Stay informed about promotions, events, and new products so you can share accurate information.
  • Keep the venue tidy by following clean-as-you-go practices, including table clearing, wiping surfaces, and checking toilets.
  • Support other areas of the pub as needed, including glass washing, fridge replenishment, floor clearing, and beer garden upkeep.

What the employer is looking for

The ideal person is fun, enthusiastic, and passionate, with a positive attitude and a calm approach under pressure. No previous experience is required because full training is provided. Reliability, friendliness, and a team-focused mindset are important, whether you want a long-term career or just additional shifts.

Pay, benefits, and working conditions

  • Hourly pay starts at £12.81.
  • A free meal and drink are provided while you are working.
  • You receive 20% off food, drinks, and hotel stays for you and up to three guests when off duty.
  • An additional £1 per hour is paid for shifts worked between midnight and 5:59 am.
  • There is a bonus scheme worth up to 19% of pay.
  • Both guaranteed-hours and variable-hours contracts may be available.
  • Paid holiday is included.
  • Free shares are available after a qualifying period.
  • A loyalty reward scheme is offered.

Growth and development

The organisation supports progression through structured on-the-job training, apprenticeships, management academies, and cross-training into other areas such as kitchen and hotel operations. There are opportunities to move into team leader, kitchen shift leader, and pub manager roles. Many current leaders and managers began in kitchen or bar positions.

Additional information

This employer encourages an inclusive environment where people from all backgrounds, preferences, and beliefs are welcome. Workers under 18 may be paid at a lower rate, though it will remain in line with national guidelines and usually above them. If application volume is high, the vacancy may close before the listed closing date of 28-06-2026. Job reference: 657517.

Working pattern

The contract is stated as 24 hours per week, with flexible hours available from Monday through Sunday.
