The Food Service Worker helps keep cafeteria operations running smoothly by preparing meals, serving food, and maintaining a sanitary, welcoming environment. What you’ll do
- Prepare and portion meals in line with recipes, production documentation, and food safety guidelines.
- Serve meals to students, staff, and visitors with professionalism and courtesy.
- Keep kitchen, serving, and dining areas clean, organized, and safe throughout the shift.
- Restock serving stations, salad bars, and milk coolers as needed.
- Follow correct procedures for storing food, rotating inventory, and maintaining sanitation standards.
- Assist with receiving deliveries, unpacking items, and arranging inventory.
- Sweep, mop, and handle trash removal when required.
- Support team members by stepping in where needed and covering shifts when asked.
- Complete reports and other assigned tasks by the required deadlines.
- Take on additional duties that help the kitchen team and the school meal program operate effectively.
What we’re looking for
Applicants should be comfortable working in a routine-based environment and able to collaborate well with others. Prior experience in food service or cleaning is helpful but not required. A basic level of math and computer ability is needed, along with a professional and respectful attitude around children, coworkers, and customers.
Work conditions
This is an on-site role in the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Area. The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, and may occasionally include longer weeks. The position can involve participation in company events or meetings. The work environment is active and fast-paced, with moderate kitchen noise and frequent movement.
Requirements and eligibility
- Must be able to pass a background check and fingerprint screening.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Ability to stand for an entire shift.
- Capability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Regular bending, reaching, walking, and use of hands are part of the job.
- Willingness to work around children and contribute to a school community.
