Job description

Role Overview

The FYI Center Case Manager supports the supervisor in the day-to-day oversight of residents, including intake interviews, safety planning, success planning, crisis response, stakeholder and leadership meetings, staff training, CANS assessments, and maintaining a safe environment for residents and employees at FYI.

Key Duties

  • Finish Motivational Interviewing training, which FYI provides, within 3 months of joining.
  • Follow the policies and procedures established by the Marion Superior Court and the FYI Center.
  • Connect residents with suitable community-based support services when needed.
  • Prepare incident documentation and treatment plans.
  • Obtain CANS certification within 3 months of employment.
  • Understand how to teach youth practical skills and help them apply those skills.
  • Protect confidential information at all times.
  • Enter case information promptly and accurately.
  • Complete 20 hours of annual training focused on youth services and education.
  • Work with local law enforcement and service providers while maintaining professional communication.
  • Comply with DCS rules and regulations.
  • Review documents and offer direction and feedback.
  • Meet with youth and families to support Safety and Success Planning.
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as directed by the Chief Probation Officer, while upholding the department’s team-oriented approach.
  • Be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Handle other duties as assigned.
  • Attend weekly supervision with the Lead Care Coordinator or Director.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
  • A successful background check is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of experience in a child caring institution is required.
  • Strong awareness of cultural values and norms is expected.
  • Knowledge of culturally specific resources available in the local community and across the state is important.
  • Applicants should understand the barriers that may limit children’s access and engagement.
  • The role requires the ability to work respectfully with people from a wide range of racial, ethnic, religious, cultural, generational, gender identity, sexual orientation, immigrant status, and ability backgrounds.
  • Comfort working with diverse staff and leadership to build trust, collaboration, and partnerships is necessary.
  • A solution-focused and respectful communication style is required in all interactions.
  • Good organizational and analytical skills are needed.
  • The candidate must show sound ethics and judgment consistently.
  • Working knowledge of current office technology and systems is required, along with the ability to learn new tools.
  • Ability to organize, oversee, and complete several projects at once with limited supervision is important.
  • Attention to detail, deadlines, responsiveness, and follow-through are essential.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with diverse groups in both written and spoken form.
  • Advanced experience with word processing, computerized case management, and related software is expected.

Additional Information

The selected candidate must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when the role demands it. Training commitments include Motivational Interviewing certification within 3 months and CANS certification within 3 months of employment, along with 20 hours of yearly youth-focused education.
