Job description

About the Company

Lamb Weston is a global food manufacturer known for producing fries and related potato products enjoyed by customers in more than 100 countries. The company serves foodservice businesses, restaurants, and households, and describes itself as a large, innovative organization with a startup-style approach that encourages people to make a real impact.

Role Overview

The Taber plant is hiring motivated, dependable, and hard-working team members to support plant operations. This position is designed for people who are ready to take initiative, contribute to results, and grow within the company. The work follows a 12-hour compressed schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with possible shift changes and advancement opportunities under the company’s internal advancement process.

Key Work Areas

This role involves a mix of production support, product inspection, cleaning, sanitation, equipment assistance, and other plant or field-related tasks. Work may take place anywhere in the plant and, at times, in raw product storage areas or potato fields. The environment is physically demanding and often fast paced.

Core Duties

  • Inspect and trim product to required standards.
  • Remove foreign material during product handling and immediately alert a supervisor if glass, metal, or any other foreign matter is found.
  • Keep the work area sanitary and support cleaning activities as needed.
  • Clean equipment and workspaces using approved tools, supplies, and high-pressure water equipment.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials, parts, and products from pallets, skids, conveyors, or trucks.
  • Support packaging operators and sanitation staff.
  • Help as a fire watch attendant when required.
  • Complete required safety training and participate in daily safety engagement.
  • Strip product as needed and operate bulk blend back equipment.
  • Assist with snow removal and field sampling tasks.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices across work areas.
  • Follow safe work procedures, including strict Lock-Out Tag-Out requirements.
  • Complete and sign required forms and documentation accurately.
  • Coordinate with process operators, sanitation leads, and supervisors as needed.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Working Conditions

The job requires long periods of standing, walking, sitting, and repeated use of the hands and arms. You must be able to scan for defects and foreign material while standing for extended periods. Physical stamina is essential, and lifting demands can reach up to 100 pounds.

The role involves exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving machinery, chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, loud noise, and occasionally cold, heat, outdoor weather, precarious heights, and electrical hazards.

Language and Communication Requirements

You should be able to read safety instructions, operating and maintenance guides, and procedure manuals; understand MSDS sheets, short correspondence, memos, and simple instructions; write basic correspondence; and communicate effectively in one-on-one or group settings.

Qualifications

A high school education or equivalent is required. At least one month of related experience or training is needed, and manufacturing experience is considered an advantage. You must be able to obtain and maintain WHMIS certification, which the company will provide. Applicants must have valid Canadian work authorization. Any offer of employment may depend on the successful completion of a background check, in line with applicable laws and company policy.

Benefits

Employees may be eligible for market-competitive compensation and bonus programs, including off-shift premiums and quarterly performance bonuses. Other benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a matching RRSP program, growth and advancement opportunities, on-the-job training and development, and employee assistance services for mental health and concierge-type support. Benefit availability may vary by location, role, job status, or collective bargaining terms.
