Job description

About the Employer

You’ll be joining a well-regarded telecommunications business focused on fibre and wireless network solutions, providing dependable connectivity across West Cork and surrounding areas. The organisation offers the pace and lifestyle benefits of West Cork, while playing an important role in expanding rural broadband. It is described as a highly people-focused workplace with a supportive team, open communication, very little corporate red tape, and the opportunity to make a real difference alongside a hands-on CEO.

Role Overview

As General Manager, you will work closely with the CEO to shape the company’s direction, turn strategy into practical action, and support overall business growth. The role covers broad operational ownership and requires a leader who can balance people, process, and commercial priorities.

Key Duties

  • Partner with the CEO to define long-term vision, operational priorities, and growth plans for the organisation.
  • Convert strategy into clear, workable initiatives that keep teams and day-to-day operations aligned with business goals.
  • Take responsibility for the business across HR, accounting, compliance, and network operations while helping to maintain an inclusive and engaged culture.
  • Lead recruitment, retention, performance management, and staff development to strengthen the team.
  • Drive business development, manage important stakeholder relationships, and contribute to the marketing approach.
  • Improve efficiency by evaluating and introducing new technologies, managing resources carefully, and keeping costs under control.

Required Background

This position calls for an engineering or technical foundation, together with substantial experience in fibre or wireless communications. Experience in a small business or start-up-style environment would be especially valuable. The ideal candidate will also have managed people and operational functions such as HR, finances, planning, and compliance.

Skills and Attributes

Strong leadership, good interpersonal skills, commercial judgment, curiosity about technology, initiative, and a practical, creative approach to solving problems are all important for success in this role.

What’s Offered

The package includes a competitive salary that will be based on experience and market conditions. The role also offers a broad remit, significant autonomy, direct influence on the business, close collaboration with the CEO, and genuine potential for career progression and professional growth.

Additional Information

This opportunity is based in Schull, County Cork, Ireland, and is full-time and onsite. Applicants interested in similar telecoms leadership roles are also encouraged to express interest.
