Job description

Role overview

The Global Expansion Director will steer the company’s international growth agenda by spotting attractive markets, shaping entry plans, and turning expansion opportunities into measurable business outcomes. The role blends strategy, partnership development, market analysis, and execution oversight to support long-term global growth.

Core responsibilities

  • Create and implement worldwide expansion plans that align with the organization’s growth targets.
  • Research, assess, and rank potential overseas markets, business opportunities, and strategic alliances.
  • Carry out market studies, competitor reviews, and viability assessments to inform expansion decisions.
  • Lead market-entry planning, covering operational launch, legal and regulatory readiness, localization, and risk evaluation.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to set expansion priorities and decide where capital should be deployed.
  • Build and manage relationships with global partners, distributors, investors, public agencies, and other key stakeholders.
  • Negotiate major agreements, joint ventures, partnerships, and other business development arrangements.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams involved in international growth programs.
  • Track market performance, industry trends, and economic changes to identify upside opportunities and emerging risks.
  • Prepare expansion budgets, forecasts, and financial models that guide strategic choices.
  • Ensure activities in target markets remain compliant with local laws, regulations, and governance standards.
  • Contribute to mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic investment activities tied to global expansion.
  • Develop executive updates and recommendations on market progress and expansion results.
  • Represent the organization at overseas conferences, sector events, and business meetings.

Qualifications and experience

A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Business, Economics, Marketing, Finance, or a closely related discipline is required; an MBA is preferred. Candidates should bring at least 8 years of experience in business development, international expansion, strategic planning, or a similar leadership capacity. The ideal background includes proven success in launching and scaling operations in international markets, strong familiarity with global business practices and market-entry methods, and hands-on experience negotiating cross-border partnerships and commercial agreements. The role also calls for strong strategic thinking, analytical ability, financial modeling expertise, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, along with the capacity to manage several projects across different regions.

Preferred profile

Additional advantage will be given to candidates with experience in multinational enterprises or fast-growing global organizations, knowledge of international regulations, trade policy, and market-compliance requirements, strong relationship-building skills across cultures, and exposure to mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, or foreign direct investment initiatives. Multilingual ability is a plus, and the position requires readiness to travel internationally when needed.

Compensation and benefits

  • Market-competitive pay with a performance-linked bonus structure.
  • Potential access to long-term incentives and equity participation, where applicable.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions.
  • Paid leave and company holidays.
  • Opportunities for international travel and professional networking.
  • Leadership development and professional training support.
