Role overview

This is a permanent full-time grounds role based in Merriwa, WA at RAAFA’s Cambrai Village in the Northern Borders Region. The village includes more than 273 retirement living units and a nearby residential care facility, all set within landscaped gardens and a busy community environment. The work is Monday to Friday, with no weekend shifts, minimal overtime, and an early finish each day.

The position is suited to someone who enjoys practical outdoor work and takes pride in helping maintain a safe, attractive, and welcoming setting for residents. The role offers salary packaging, superannuation, and a strong work-life balance within a respected not-for-profit organisation.

What the role involves

  • Keeping lawns, gardens, and shared outdoor areas well maintained
  • Using and caring for grounds equipment such as mowers, hedgers, and chainsaws
  • Removing weeds, pruning plants, mulching, fertilising, and supporting plant health
  • Assisting with landscaping improvements and routine site upkeep
  • Helping with basic reticulation and irrigation maintenance
  • Ensuring outdoor spaces remain tidy, safe, and pleasant for residents and visitors

What you need to bring

  • Proven experience in grounds or garden maintenance
  • A manual driver’s licence
  • Confidence using tools, maintenance equipment, and irrigation systems
  • A chainsaw ticket, or a willingness to obtain one
