Role Overview
Bayshore is seeking caring and motivated Home Support Workers to join its team in Southampton, Ontario. In this role, you will help create meaningful moments for clients each day by delivering personal care and support in line with individualized care plans and required practice standards.

What You Will Do
- Deliver personal care according to the assigned care plan or task sheet while supporting the client’s emotional, spiritual, physical comfort, and safety
- Carry out personal care tasks within the provincial scope of practice, which may include skin, hair, and mouth care, bathing, bowel and bladder care, positioning and movement, exercise, basic wound care, feeding, special diets, oxygen assistance, and medication reminders
- Complete client-specific procedures only when the required training and current competency can be demonstrated
- Monitor client condition, record observations according to company standards, and escalate unusual events or condition changes to the supervisor or office
- Follow infection prevention procedures
- Take part in internal or external continuing education activities
- Follow Bayshore policies and procedures
- Contribute to quality improvement and continuous improvement efforts under the Quality Management System
- Participate in health and safety practices and report risks or concerns to the immediate supervisor
- Protect the confidentiality of client and company information
- Carry out additional duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities
This position calls for strong communication, teamwork, independence, physical stamina, and the ability to follow care instructions accurately. You should also be comfortable working locally between assignments and supporting clients with mobility and daily living tasks.
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate in spoken and written English or French
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Physical ability to stand, bend, squat, kneel, and reach freely
- Ability to lift up to 23 kilograms and assist clients with standing, walking, sitting, and turning in bed
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions related to client care
- Ability to travel locally from one assignment to another
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent
- Home Support Program or related courses preferred
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for commuting
- At least 1 year of recent personal care experience in a similar role, or equivalent life experience involving comparable duties
Reporting and Performance
The Home Support Worker reports to the Clinical Manager, as appropriate. Ongoing competency in all duties is expected, along with achievement of agreed goals and objectives. Performance is reviewed continuously, with a formal review after the 3-month probation period and then at least once a year.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
New hires may be required to provide proof of vaccination against illnesses such as COVID-19, Hepatitis, and Seasonal Flu, depending on provincial regulations and the requirements of the specific role. Medical exemptions and other exemption requests under the Human Rights Code will be reviewed individually. Bayshore also works in line with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and applicable Provincial Human Rights Codes.
