Job description
Role overview
St John of God Geelong Hospital is looking for a courteous and professional Hospital Concierge & Security team member to be the first welcoming face for caregivers, patients, and visitors. This position is based mainly at the front of house, supports clinical teams during emergency codes, and assists engineering staff when needed.
Working hours
This is a full-time role scheduled from Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:06, with a 7.6-hour working day. Some weekend and public holiday work may also be required.
Key duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly and act as the initial point of contact for anyone arriving at the hospital.
- Help maintain the safety and security of caregivers, patients, and visitors on site.
- Support reception staff when difficult or aggressive behaviour arises, including helping to calm situations.
- Respond to applicable emergency codes and assist clinical staff as required.
- Find out why people have arrived and direct them to the appropriate site services.
- Oversee access to the building and help ensure patient arrivals and departures happen safely.
- Assist patients with luggage and mobility aids during arrival and departure.
- Help patients enter and exit vehicles safely.
What the role requires
The successful candidate will bring prior experience in concierge or customer service, along with a demonstrated ability to handle and de-escalate challenging situations. A strong commitment to excellent service is essential.

- Annual salary between $57,990 and $59,720, plus 12% superannuation; pay is pro rata for part-time arrangements.
