Role overview

This permanent full-time Housekeeper position is based at Aspira Doon Village Retirement Living in Kitchener, Ontario. The role is scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with weekends off. In this job, you will contribute directly to the comfort, cleanliness, and dignity of residents in a retirement home setting, while building genuine connections with the people who live and work there.

Key duties

  • Accept daily work assignments, collect the necessary supplies, and move materials to the assigned area.
  • Carry out housekeeping tasks in resident rooms according to the schedule provided.
  • Clean floors through sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and carpet shampooing.
  • Spot-clean walls, windows, and doors as needed.
  • Dust and sanitize furniture, shelves, and woodwork.
  • Empty waste containers and reset rooms as required.
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms every day, including floors, fixtures, and walls.
  • Prepare rooms for incoming residents and keep them ready for tours.
  • Respect resident privacy while working in occupied spaces.
  • Follow established room-preparation procedures and complete any other tasks assigned.

Important conditions

  • Applicants must be legally allowed to work in Canada or hold a valid work/study permit.
  • A Vulnerable Sector Check must be successfully completed.
  • All applicants must pass the required Criminal Records Check; this applies to British Columbia applicants.

Work schedule
