About the Role
Southwest Properties is looking for a Housekeeper to help maintain clean, polished, and welcoming spaces across its properties in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This role focuses on specialized cleaning work and overall presentation standards for common areas and other spaces throughout the building portfolio.
The position is full-time and based onsite, with the work carried out at any Southwest Properties building. The schedule is primarily daytime, five days per week, and flexibility is needed for varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Key Responsibilities
- Keep suites, hallways, lobbies, washrooms, corridors, elevators, and stairways clean, tidy, and free of stains or debris.
- Vacuum and shampoo carpets, rugs, draperies, and upholstered furnishings as needed.
- Collect and dispose of garbage and waste from bins and other areas.
- Sweep, mop, scrub, wax, and polish floors using manual and powered equipment.
- Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, fittings, and equipment.
- Replace light bulbs in shared areas when required.
- Sort laundry, operate washing machines, and iron and fold dried items.
- Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, applying wax or polish where needed.
- Remove debris from parking areas and around the property.
- Clean carpeted grates and other common-area surfaces.
- Maintain regular cleanliness in fitness and entertainment spaces, including wiping down gym equipment.
- Keep pool and hot tub areas clean and safe.
- Prepare vacant suites so they are presentable and ready for showings and leasing.
- Make routine rounds across the property and raise cleanliness or maintenance concerns when necessary.
- Carry out light seasonal landscaping tasks such as raking, garbage removal, and watering plant boxes.
- Clean barbecue and terrace areas, including outdoor furniture, on a regular basis.
- Take precautions to protect residents and report damage, theft, or found items to the Assistant Property Manager.
- Request repairs or service support when needed.
- Follow all safety standards while performing housekeeping duties.
- Keep the cleaning cart organized and fully stocked.
- Interact professionally with residents, employees, and members of the public.
- Escort contractors through the building when Concierge support is unavailable.
- Maintain housekeeping tools and equipment in good working condition.
Work Environment
This role involves extended periods of standing and walking, along with occasional heavy lifting. Some duties are seasonal and may be affected by weather conditions.
