About the role
This position supports a senior living community in Nanaimo by keeping shared spaces and resident apartments clean, sanitary, and welcoming. The role also involves courteous dining room support and helps create a comfortable environment for residents while maintaining a respectful, friendly approach.
What you will do
- Carry out day-to-day housekeeping across the community, including resident apartments, by vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning entryways, common areas, dining spaces, hallways, patios, and private rooms.
- Clean and maintain apartment details such as refrigerators, heat system filters, bed linens, and waste baskets, and replace linens as required.
- Handle deep-cleaning tasks when needed, with attention to areas like carpets, plants, wall art, railings, windows, and lighting fixtures near the main entry.
- Wash and dry all linens using the laundry equipment provided.
- Follow all company sanitation rules and safety procedures.
- Assist in dining service by greeting residents and guests, serving beverages and light meal items, and taking meal orders politely and clearly.
- Deliver meals or trays to resident rooms when necessary, return carts to the kitchen, and help store perishable items properly.
- Clear tables after meals, reset dining areas for the next service, and complete sanitizing tasks for tables and chairs.
- Carry out side duties such as refilling sugar, replacing creamers, and cleaning the coffee maker.
- Take on other related tasks as assigned.
What is expected
- Comfort with basic reading, writing, and arithmetic.
- Ability to speak clearly and effectively in English with both residents and team members.
- Working knowledge of sanitation practices and safe food handling.
- Capacity to remember and manage up to four orders at once.
- Good organization and time management skills.
- Basic computer literacy.
