Job description

Role overview

The Housekeeper I position supports daily housekeeping operations and reports to the Head Housekeeper. This is an hourly role focused on carrying out assigned cleaning and upkeep tasks across guest rooms and common housekeeping areas.

Work schedule

This role is designed around a rotation of 6 weeks on and 2 weeks off, although the schedule may change based on business requirements or manager discretion.

Key duties

  • Contribute to a strong safety culture by following all company SOPs, JSAs, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepare beds and clean guest rooms each day, including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping, as well as cleaning windows, mirrors, closets, and other room surfaces.
  • Thoroughly clean and disinfect washrooms, including sinks, toilets, showers, and floors.
  • Restock guest room supplies such as facial tissue, toilet paper, and body wash.
  • Keep the housekeeping cart tidy, organized, and stocked with required PPE.
  • Use, store, and dispense chemicals according to the company HSE program and related policies.
  • Help maintain and replenish housekeeping spaces, including housekeeping rooms and laundry areas.
  • Deliver excellent guest service and respond to guest needs with a high level of professionalism.
  • Take part in safety meetings and follow emergency response procedures when required.
  • Carry out any additional tasks assigned by a supervisor or manager.

Physical requirements

The job involves sustained physical activity and may include standing for up to 12 hours or longer with breaks, walking long and short distances, using stairs and step stools, and pushing or pulling carts that average around 50 lbs. The role also requires crouching, bending, twisting, reaching, and repeated wrist movements. Lifting is frequent at around 25 lbs, with occasional lifts up to 50 lbs; anything above that must be handled with help or lifting equipment. Applicants should be comfortable handling objects, using their hands and fingers repeatedly, and performing some tasks that require typing or use of a 10-key.

Work environment

The position requires the ability to hear verbal instructions and safety signals, communicate clearly in English, and read small print such as warning labels. Work may take place in extreme hot or cold conditions, narrow or crowded spaces, and sometimes in noisy surroundings. The role follows a rotational schedule and may involve long periods away from home.

Candidate profile

Applicants should have 0 to 1 year of housekeeping experience, ideally in a remote camp, hotel, or hospitality setting, or similar work experience. A first aid certification is an advantage. Candidates must be able to work well in a team, perform independently when needed, manage priorities effectively, and stay organized under pressure. Strong written and spoken English is required. A background check and urinalysis are mandatory, and candidates must arrange their own transportation to and from the facility.
