About the role

We are seeking a Housing Support Manager in Christchurch for a 12-month secondment/fixed-term assignment. In this role, you will support customers and their whānau to improve housing stability and overall wellbeing through strong, ongoing relationships.

What you will do

  • Work closely with a portfolio of customers and their whānau to make sure housing and wellbeing needs are understood and supported over time.
  • Assist customers with low and medium support needs, including situations involving disruptive behaviour.
  • Have confident, respectful conversations with customers and stakeholders, even when discussions are difficult or sensitive.
  • Visit customers in their Kāinga Ora homes and attend meetings with key stakeholders when needed.
  • Help ensure tailored support services remain in place for customers and their whānau.
  • Travel throughout Christchurch and the wider region as required, including longer-distance travel.
  • Work with tenants on rent arrears and debt collection/recovery.

What you will bring

  • A strong ability to form trusted relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience handling emotionally charged situations and resolving conflict through calm, practical problem-solving.
  • Confidence in working on rent arrears and debt recovery matters.
  • Comfort using technology and learning new tools and systems quickly.
  • Prior experience in tenancy, emergency housing, or social housing will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act will be beneficial.
  • A genuine commitment to supporting people with complex housing and wellbeing needs.
  • Good cultural awareness, especially when working with Māori and Pasifika communities.
