About The Role

The HR Assistant at Mastery Charter Schools is a key support position within the Human Resources Department, contributing to various HR functions. This role is responsible for optimizing the onboarding experience for new employees, facilitating benefits enrollment, and maintaining accurate employee records. The HR Assistant ensures adherence to relevant labor laws and school policies, manages employee certification tracking, and provides assistance to the finance team during audits. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong customer service skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities. Responsibilities

  • Support the onboarding process for new hires by managing documentation, distributing necessary forms, entering data, and verifying compliance with legal requirements.
  • Assist with benefits enrollment to ensure accurate and timely processing for all staff members.
  • Maintain employee personnel files, including critical legal documents such as clearances and certifications.
  • Track teacher certifications and Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) status to ensure compliance with Charter School laws.
  • Aid the finance team during audit preparations by ensuring all personnel documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Support compliance efforts related to local, state, and federal labor laws.
  • Contribute to HR initiatives designed to foster a positive work environment.
  • Ensure meticulous record-keeping and proactive communication.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will exhibit exceptional attention to detail and organizational capabilities, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, complemented by excellent communication and customer service abilities. The candidate should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data management software is required. Prior experience in K-12 education, public education, charter schools, or underserved school communities is advantageous. Familiarity with PA/NJ Teacher and Administrative Certification processes is a plus. Educational requirements include an Associate’s degree, with a Bachelor’s degree preferred. A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant HR and administrative experience is expected. The role also requires the physical capacity to perform essential duties, including travel between campuses and interacting with students and staff.

New external hires are eligible for a $1,000 signing bonus and up to $5,000 in relocation assistance.
