Role overview
This temporary contract opportunity is for an HR Coordinator supporting people operations for a real estate and property organization in New York, NY. The role is centered on creating a smooth new-hire experience, keeping HR records accurate, and helping the team stay aligned with employment policies and compliance requirements in a busy environment.
Key responsibilities
- Handle onboarding tasks for new hires, including guiding completion of required paperwork and helping ensure a positive first-day experience.
- Oversee background check coordination and follow up on pending items so hiring timelines stay on schedule.
- Update employee information in HR systems and keep personnel files organized, complete, and up to date.
- Support routine HR administration by preparing employment documents, responding to common queries, and monitoring process milestones.
- Assist with compliance-related work by reviewing forms, tracking deadlines, and helping HR practices remain consistent with company rules and applicable regulations.
- Work with internal partners to share onboarding progress, resolve document issues, and keep the onboarding process moving smoothly.
- Create and maintain HR reports, logs, and trackers that provide visibility into onboarding and administrative activity.
Required background
- Prior experience supporting onboarding and core HR administrative tasks in a business setting.
- Experience coordinating candidate screening and handling employment documentation workflows.
- Comfort using HRIS systems and maintaining accurate employee records.
- Awareness of HR compliance expectations and careful handling of confidential documents.
- Strong organization and time management abilities, with the capacity to juggle several priorities at once.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with employees, recruiters, and business stakeholders.
- Proficiency with standard office software, including spreadsheets, trackers, and digital record-keeping tools.
