About the role
St Andrew’s Cathedral School is looking for a seasoned and future-focused ICT Director to guide the School’s technology direction and strengthen innovation across teaching, learning, and day-to-day operations.
Based in central Sydney, the School blends long-standing tradition with a forward-looking educational approach. This senior leadership position plays a central part in designing and delivering the ICT agenda, with an emphasis on secure, dependable, and modern technology services that support students, staff, and the broader school community.
The role reports to the Executive Director of Operations and works closely with senior leaders to ensure technology is embedded across the School.
This position is based on site.
Key responsibilities
- Direct and grow the ICT function, including infrastructure, systems, audiovisual services, and service delivery.
- Shape and implement the School’s ICT strategy and digital roadmap so they align with educational goals and operational needs.
- Advise executive leaders on ICT spending, risk, governance, and new and emerging technologies.
- Maintain stable, scalable, and secure ICT infrastructure and systems across the School.
- Put in place and sustain robust cybersecurity, data protection, and ICT risk controls.
- Work with teaching teams to support and improve digital learning from K–12.
- Oversee ICT support services and helpdesk operations, using service levels and performance measures to guide delivery.
- Manage ICT and AV initiatives, such as upgrades, new systems, and innovation projects.
- Handle ICT budgets, purchasing, and supplier relationships to achieve quality outcomes and good value.
What you will bring
- Strong leadership experience in ICT, ideally within a school or a comparable setting.
- Proven ability to build and deliver ICT strategy, including digital transformation and AI-related initiatives.
- Solid understanding of ICT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems.
- Background in overseeing ICT operations and service delivery with SLAs and performance indicators.
- Well-developed financial and commercial judgement, including budgeting, procurement, and vendor management.
- Experience with ICT governance, risk, and compliance, including Australian requirements such as the Privacy Act and child safety obligations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence executive decision-makers.
- A genuine commitment to child safety, Christian values, and the Anglican ethos of education.
