Job description

Role overview

IMC is a global market-making firm that uses advanced technology and sophisticated trading approaches to operate across major financial markets. With teams in Amsterdam, Chicago, and Sydney, the business combines deep market knowledge with modern systems to supply liquidity throughout the day and night.

As the firm continues to grow its presence in index options, it is seeking a seasoned and ambitious trader with strong expertise in volatility and risk, along with a clear appetite for taking directional views. This is a high-impact opportunity for someone who wants to commit capital with confidence, shape trading strategy, and help build out one of the most dynamic parts of the trading platform.

Key responsibilities

You will oversee a significant index options book across APAC markets, concentrating on opportunistic strategies with a high-risk, high-reward profile. The role calls for the use of directional and volatility-driven trades supported by market judgement, quantitative inputs, and detailed scenario work. You will manage risk and exposure in real time, drawing on strong knowledge of index behaviour, macro catalysts, and volatility patterns.

In addition, you will work closely with quantitative researchers, software developers, and execution specialists to improve models, trading logic, and trading infrastructure. You will also contribute to growth initiatives such as new index product launches, opportunities specific to the region, and innovation in volatility surfaces. The role includes mentoring junior traders and helping lead a high-performing trading desk.

Experience and profile

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience trading index options or similar macro volatility products, with a demonstrated PnL record in discretionary or systematic approaches that involve meaningful risk. You should have strong expertise in options pricing, volatility surfaces, and complex risk/reward scenarios, especially around major macro events.

You must be comfortable making fast decisions under pressure, confident enough to size positions decisively and challenge consensus views when needed. Experience with APAC indices such as Japan, Hong Kong, and Korea is preferred. Familiarity with data analysis tools and risk modelling frameworks is also important. The right person will be entrepreneurial, intellectually curious, and constantly searching for an edge.
