Job description

Role overview

Riot Games is looking for an Insights Analyst to support the VALORANT team in turning player and ecosystem data into practical decisions. This role sits within the Insights function, a group of analysts, strategists, and scientists focused on helping teams make better, player-centered choices. The work centers on understanding how players interact with VALORANT across gameplay, competition, community, live events, creators, and other touchpoints.

In this position, you will work with senior analysts and cross-functional partners to analyze engagement, behavior, trends, and ecosystem health. The role is well-suited to someone who enjoys solving analytical problems, working with large datasets, and applying insights to a fast-moving live game environment.

What you will do

  • Analyze player behavior, motivations, sentiment, and engagement across gameplay, community, creator, and live event experiences.
  • Support post-launch reviews and ecosystem summaries for major releases, esports milestones, seasonal moments, and player-facing programs.
  • Create and maintain dashboards, recurring reports, and monitoring views that track engagement, ecosystem health, and product performance across VALORANT.
  • Extract, clean, validate, and organize large datasets using SQL and visualization tools.
  • Work with senior analysts and partner teams on experimentation analysis, reporting, and other insight projects.
  • Spot ecosystem patterns, player pain points, and new opportunities through exploratory analysis.
  • Present findings and recommendations in a way that is understandable to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Improve analytics processes, reporting workflows, and data quality practices, including experimentation with newer AI-enabled analytical tools.
  • Collaborate with teams across Insights, product, publishing, and esports-related functions to support player-focused decisions.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Data Science, or another quantitative field.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in analytics, management consulting, business intelligence, strategy, or a similar area.
  • Practical SQL knowledge and experience handling large datasets.
  • Experience creating dashboards or reports in tools such as Tableau, Hex, Looker, or similar platforms.
  • Strong structured thinking and analytical problem-solving ability, with the capacity to turn complex data into clear actions.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to explain results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Basic understanding of experimentation and performance measurement concepts.
  • Preferred: familiarity with VALORANT and tactical shooter communities.
  • Preferred: active involvement in competitive gaming, creator, esports, or live-service game communities.
  • Preferred: curiosity about how players engage through gameplay, social spaces, community activity, and live events.
  • Preferred: experience with Python, R, or other analytical programming languages.
  • Preferred: background in gaming, entertainment, technology, or consumer-facing industries.
  • Preferred: comfort adapting to a fast-changing environment.

Perks and benefits

  • Open paid time off and support for work-life balance.
  • Flexible work schedules.
  • Medical, dental, and life insurance coverage.
  • Parental leave for employees, spouses/domestic partners, and children.
  • 401(k) plan with company match.
