About the Role

KONE is looking for an Installation Engineer for its elevator and escalator operations in Doha, Qatar. The role focuses on delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality installation work while coordinating with customers, project teams, subcontractors, and site personnel.

The company emphasizes a people-first culture built around collaboration, inclusion, growth, well-being, sustainability, and ethical business practices. It values teamwork, continuous improvement, and strong performance on site.

Site Supervision

  • Own safety, quality, and productivity outcomes during installation and handover, and ensure corrective actions are raised and completed when issues are found.
  • Ensure the team follows the correct installation methods and tools, and carry out risk assessments whenever the standard method cannot be used.
  • Handle site preparation, readiness checks, customer deliverables, site visits, and audits, while resolving non-conformities with the customer when needed.
  • Review the execution plan and field cost management before delivery, take responsibility for site execution, and oversee installation and handover activities.
  • Maintain realistic material delivery planning throughout the S-plan and confirm milestones 3 to 5z.
  • Support the Project Manager and Project Admin with payment-status verification based on the S-plan concept and contract terms.
  • Plan and coordinate installation work, storage, logistics, manpower, and tools required at site.
  • Request materials to site, confirm receipt of KONE materials, receive other materials and services, and complete Goods Receipt.
  • Transfer work clearly to the installation team, including scope, completion targets, customer milestone dates, and installation-hour targets for KONE fitters.
  • Run regular team huddles to keep work flowing, reduce interruptions, improve efficiency, and eliminate waste.
  • Drive variation sales and change orders during installation and make sure costs caused by others are recovered.
  • Check installation quality, confirm completion of scope, manage final testing, close open items from testers, customers, or third-party inspectors, and complete handover to maintenance.
  • Manage quality claims, time sheet approvals, installation records, progress reporting, cost tracking, risk reporting, and schedule changes.
  • Oversee environmental aspects of installation, including waste handling and hazardous material management.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Serve as the main point of contact for the customer on site management matters and communicate proactively using the relevant tools.
  • Build customer confidence through timely communication, a professional installation process, and strong attention to safety and quality.

People, Leadership, and Subcontractor Relations

  • Confirm that installers, testers, and other contractors are trained, certified, competent, and able to carry out their assigned tasks.
  • Take responsibility for the safety, motivation, and well-being of people working on site.
  • Identify training needs for installation operatives and share them with line managers, HR, subcontractor companies, and procurement teams.
  • Support the development and performance management of both the team and individual contributors.
  • Maintain a proactive, professional relationship with subcontractor installation teams and ensure commitments are met.

Continual Improvement

  • Follow standard work practices and continuously improve them using LEAN principles.
  • Encourage the team to spot waste and suggest improvements, with an emphasis on collaboration and teamwork.
  • Coach and support the installation team to strengthen standard working methods.
  • Share root causes, ideas, and improvement opportunities with the team and other stakeholders using LEAN tools such as Go & See, retrospectives, and improvement workshops.
  • Highlight successful team improvements and recognize contributions that support continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in elevators and escalators, with a successful track record in a comparable position.
  • Strong leadership capability and the ability to manage on-site teams.
  • A customer-focused approach and strong communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety practices is essential.
