IT Support Engineer

Role Overview

This part-time entry-level IT Support Engineer position is based in Sydney, New South Wales, and follows a hybrid setup with a mix of onsite attendance and work-from-home flexibility. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for internal users needing technical help across hardware, software, and network issues.

What You’ll Do

You will respond to support requests through face-to-face, phone, and online channels, helping users resolve day-to-day technical problems. The role includes managing help desk tickets, escalating matters that need senior attention, and carrying out basic administration tasks such as account creation, device setup, and routine maintenance checks.

In addition, you will document issues and resolutions, contribute to internal knowledge resources, and support efforts to improve service quality and IT reliability across the organization.

Required Qualifications

The position calls for a good grounding in technical support and help desk operations, along with familiarity with core IT concepts such as operating systems, networks, and common productivity software. You should be comfortable diagnosing hardware, software, and connectivity problems in an organized and timely way.

Some introductory exposure to system administration is expected, including user account handling, device configuration, and routine checks. Strong communication and customer service ability are important so you can explain technical matters clearly to non-technical colleagues.

Candidates should be able to work both independently and as part of a team in a hybrid environment while managing tasks efficiently. Certifications such as CompTIA A+ or ITIL Foundation are a plus, and a diploma or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related area is preferred, though motivated entry-level applicants without this background may also be considered.
